AirPods won’t connect after iOS 14 update

My AirPods 2 are not connecting to my iPhone 11 after updating to ios 14. I put the AirPods in my ears but the music continues to play on my phone. I have turned off Bluetooth and back on, I’ve unpaired and paired again and neither have worked. Please help

Do you have a Apple Watch? If so go into settings on the watch and turn off blue tooth, at that point you should be able to connect to the AirPods. It’s a pain because I will usually forget to turn the blue tooth back on, but that works for mine. I do have to do that every single time I connect them and it’s frustratingly. Not sure why Apple won’t address this since they can see these posts

One suggestion (while we wait for Apple to recognize the issue causing the Apple Watch to interfere with our AirPods) ...

I created a simple IOS Shortcuts (automation) which enables me to have the Apple Watch disable Bluetooth for 30 seconds, which is enough time to get my AirPods connected. I leverage Siri to run it whenever I'd like to pick up my AirPods and use them.

Let me know if you have ideas to improve it.

An addition to using an IOS Shortcuts to disable the Bluetooth on my watch (see my Jan 6 post) , I also use the Shortcuts complication on my watch. This enables me to easily trigger the automation and then pull my AirPods while the watch is taking care of disabling its Bluetooth for 30 seconds. The AirPods connect without any issue.

For the record, I hate the need to work around the issue and really hope Apple will live up to the quality it should have for these very expensive iPhones, Apple Watches and AirPods.

My Airpods Pro sometimes connect, sometimes don't. It shows they are and then while listening to music or videos they just drop connection and start playing on my phone. I have to put the airpods in the case and take them out 2-3 times before they re-connect and even then, they will drop after a while. I never had this problem before updating to ios 14. And I have an Iphone 11pro phone. Please fix this connectivity issue Apple.

Having the exact same issue since the update with my iPhone X. I’ve unpaired and repaired I can’t tell you how many countless times. Restarted my phone. Did a hard re-set of my phone and set it up again - to no avail. I do not have widgetsmith on my phone so that isn’t the issue with mine. Had similar issues with connection to my Apple Watch as well, but that finally resolved. I’m going crazy without being able to listen to music in a public place. This last update was a total s***. Apple needs to get their crap together and fix this. It’s totally ridiculous.
