Since the latest update the volume buttons don’t increase the volume and there no sound from the speakers and control centre volume is none responsive.
I’m having the same issue on my iPad mini after ios14 update. Updated to 14.3 and still no luck
Note that iOS 14.0.1 fixed the camera issue, it was never promised to fix mic issues.
Please contact Apple Support directly, as that's how they know whether there is an issue or not.
Recall most people are not seeing either issue.

That's inaccurate, the "repair" price for an out of warranty iPhone XS is $549:

My recommendation would be to have it examined and if they recommend replacement, wait to see if the issue is software by waiting for the next iOS release.
Of course that also depends on whether you can live without the mic for a while.
Ash iPhones with Face ID have attention aware features. These features will silence your alarm if you are looking at the iPhone since it knows you are looking. You can turn off in settings: Face ID & Passcode > Attention Aware features.
Hoping an update comes quick I'm having the same issue. Also my alarm will have volume for about 2 seconds then get quiet.

Just did it and was told by Apple to wait for the next IOS update...phone works in Bluetooth or on speaker. Only ear speaker is very low. Not acceptable.
The speakers used for audio and the ear speaker are different devices.
