Updating Mojave to Catalina. First I was told I need to change my hard disk from HFS+ to APSF -form. I divided the hard disk with section for APSF and downloaded Catalina. Then I got message "You need to update the firmware. Choose HFS+ instead.
What now I can do?

Yes, I have fresh backup, so I can format the disk with HSF+. So you mean that APSF is not necessary?
Correct, on older Macs it needs HFS plus to start with & will convert to APFS if needed.
APFS is required by Catalina, but as I recall it has to do it itself on older Macs.

+1 BDAqua and as I recall you will be asked to install a Helper that does the job for you.
