internal speakers not working on Mac

Are or were headphones plugged into the headphone output port?

If they are, then unplug them to see if the audio returns to the internal speakers.

If they were, then try plugging and unplugging them several times to see if the audio returns to the internal speakers.

Also open the Sound Preference and check to see what audio output is being used.
