magic keyboard not connecting wirelessly to macbook pro

Hi all,

My macbook pro 2020 is only connecting to my magic keyboard when it's plugged in and doesn't connect when not plugged in. Any ideas?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Do you have bluetooth on (System Preferences > Bluetooth)? Did you pair the keyboard (same settings pane)?
