Logging into my Mac but the keyboard isn’t typing English. Strange looking characters and the caps lock key is illuminated. Every time I try to type the caps lock comes back on.

Does anyone know what keys I can press to get back to English?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Those look like the characters you get when the machine thinks the option key is held down. Suggest you try another keyboard (doesn't have to be from Apple).
