Watch does not indicate incoming call from the iphone

I’m not sure if anyone else is experiencing this issue. I purchased a Watch 6 on Saturday. I also updated the iPhone to iOS 14. However, I do not received an indicate there is an incoming call from my phone. I normally keep the sound off and previously I knew there’s an incoming call based on the watch indicated the incoming call (I also received the indication on the iPad as well). However, I no longer receive that indication when there’s an incoming call. I dont receive it on the iPad either. I do receive indication of text messages coming thru just not of incoming calls. I have verified settings but I’m either missing something or there’s some kind of a bug in the new software.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Jim

This afternoon I saw Apple has release 14.0.1 for the iPhone and 7.0.1 for the watch. Once update was completed everything worked fine. I have tested calling my cell and notification occurred on the watch every time.

Exactly the same problem. Re-Pairing didn’t work but something else did.

  1. Forget Connection in the Bluetooth connections on the iPhone
  2. Remove passcode on my watch
  3. On the watch in the general settings I erased all the contents.
  4. On my iPhone I unpaired the device and restarted the iPhone
  5. Now re-pair the device using the Watch app on your iPhone
  6. Make sure your watch is not in Do Not Disturb mode after setup is complete. That’s how it came up for me so u had to clear that setting first.

All my calls are now going to my watch again. It’s still working now so hopefully this is helpful.

For me, it looks like this had something to do with a corrupt Bluetooth connection which wasn’t resolved by simply un-pairing and then re-pairing again.

I had a similar problem - I got a new iphone 12 pro and after transferring everything from my old iphone SE, everything worked, except receiving a call on my Apple Watch Series 3. It all worked fine before with the iphone SE.

I restarted the iphone, but this didn't help. I checked all settings and everything was set up properly.

The last thing that I did was restart my Apple Watch, and this fixed the problem! Now I receive calls on my Apple Watch too.

Hope this helps.

Same problem here. iPhone X with watch series 2. I recently switched to watch SE (hoping to solve this) but same problem appeared. So I think we can safely come to the conclusion, this is not a hardware problem. Reading the answers here today, I checked the CarPlay relation. When I started, watch didn't alert incoming calls. After restarting phone and watch, incoming calls did appear on the watch. After I went to my car and connected with CarPlay, again no alerts on the watch. So to me it is quite clear there is a connection with the two. I have been working on this for a long time by now, restarting, resetting and even new installing. And in the end replacing my watch. So somewhat frustrating it looks like it is an apple software problem. Anyone know if apple does actively read this community?

Yes it turned out my Bluetooth connection was somehow corrupted. However I did more than that. I also did a reset of my Apple Watch. Before this I tried many things including what was suggested in the earlier posts (including resetting my Apple Watch) but nothing actually worked. It drove me mad! In the end it turned out to be a corrupted Bluetooth setup between my iPhone and my Apple Watch. It’s still working today.

I have the same problem. You can temporarily fix it by restarting both iphone and watch and letting the iPhone bootup first. But after the test call it doesn't work again. Followed the instructions here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8175134?answerId=32620269022#32620269022 couple of times. Pitty I can't rely on my watch anymore:( often founding missed calls on my phone since the update.

I also have the same problem since a few months ago. I have an Apple Watch Series 4, model A1978. The situation was already happening with the iPhone Xs and it continued to happen with the iPhone 12 Pro that I bought in November to replace the Xs. I think it is not a problem of hardware or devices per se, but of software and / or interconnection between devices. I have also been using Apple CarPlay since September 2019 but the problem of the lack of notification of incoming calls on the Apple Watch (and on my iPad Pro, for that matter) only started to appear since the beginning of September 2020, I think, coinciding with the iOS upgrade to version 14.0. I always have the latest versions of the operating system installed on my watch and phone. I usually keep the iPhone in silent mode (it must be this way in my profession) and await the signalling of calls on the Apple Watch, as with messages and notifications. I can make calls from my Apple Watch without any problem and they are recorded in the iPhone call history. I have already performed the procedure to restart both devices, I have already erased and reconfigured the Apple Watch, including the configuration as a new watch, but the problem always comes back. It may work well for a few hours, but then it all comes back to it. Given the problem, with the lack of notification or signalling, I miss many calls, which causes me a great deal of inconvenience. I am really upset about the situation. This is an issue that Apple must resolve urgently, not least because it seems to reach many more people.

I have the same issue. also keep my watch on silent, use CarPlay, have the latest OS's on every device. Apple had to send me a new series 4 thinking it was a hardware issue, that new one had the same issue after a while, I upgraded to series 6 watch and after a while started happening there too. apple also sent me a new watch thinking I got another dud device. Restarting the phone fixes the issue for a few days then it happens again. FIX THIS APPLE!!!!!

The same thing is happening to me. I opened a ticket with Apple about it, shortly after getting the Series 6 watch and a new iPhone 12 Pro. They ran some diagnostics, we did some troubleshooting, and they had no answer. The hardware in both devices checked out as good/functional/expected, so they wouldn't replace either. In the meantime, the issue is still ongoing for me--although sometimes it randomly DOES work--but I don't know what triggers it to work a few times and then stop, then work again, then stop again. I keep my devices up-to-date with the latest software and I get notifications on my watch for everything else--emails, texts, and even missed calls (which is ridiculous to think about because I wouldn't have a missed call to begin with if I had been notified on my watch, like it should be doing); it's only incoming calls that is the problem. Reboots, haptics, do not disturb, mirroring, etc---all has been checked ad infinitum. I had a Series 2 watch with an iPhone X Pro prior to updating my equipment and had no issues with this behavior--that said, both were running on older software (current at the time though), FWIW. Anyway, that's my experience, I'm glad I'm not alone in this--but I'm super frustrated, and wish they'd address the issue.

Actually I have the same issue.

iPhone a pro max with iOS 14.2 and Apple Watch 4 with eSim watchOS 7.1.

I notice that if I call from the watch to somewhere, the calling transfer from the phone to the watch returns for some period of time but then it goes away again.

And hey I think the same thing happens neither my iPad And Mac as well. So I’m not sure the culprit is the watchOS or the iPhone. However since the watch communicates with the phone via Bluetooth and the other devices communicate via WiFi if may be true that there are actually several issues now at hand.

I hope this goest fixed soon because I also hate missing calls and used to rely on the watch for that but I can’t do that anymore.

Exactly the same issue I’ve had! Since having carplay my watch doesn’t show calls. All other notifications are good.

I’ve checked all settings, reset both phone and watch, erased watch and started again, spoken to tech support, been to the Genius Bar. My watch started ringing on the way to the Genius Bar and they said they couldn’t do anything. I said to the guy I’d be ****** if it stopped ringing on the way home and that’s exactly what happened! Absolutely filthy
