Trouble installing macOS update

I keep getting an error message that says "the request timed out" when I try to install macOS Catalina. Does anyone know the possible reason or reasons for this and how I can fix the issue?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

You can try to boot your Mac in safe mode (hold shift while starting up) you can then from there manually download the update and reinstall macOS Catalina.
