The on screen keyboard won’t show on the app so I can’t press Q+W+E while holding down alt.

Further information:

By pressing the pictured letters,

Update Keyboard: QWE+Globe

Update Keyboard and Trackpad: QWE+CTRL

Update Trackpad: QWE+ALT

Debug Notifications: QWE+CMD

The grey button should become cyan; click it to begin the update you need. DO NOT type or use the trackpad during the update :)

I have a 12.9” 2021 iPad Pro and after using the update I needed, I had to power down my iPad and turn it back on for the update to be effective. The update did not work until then.

My issue with the Combo Touch was that the keyboard backlighting would stop working and it would not respond to the brightness buttons along the top row. Followed the last several posts, updated the keyboard firmware and now it SEEMS to be working just fine…..

Sorry to say, and I DO otherwise love this keyboard, but another reason to stick with genuine Apple accessories…..

I read this whole feed and couldn't get the firmware to update til I read this. The trick was I had to take my ipad out of the logi case. Then, just to be safe I closed all my programs and rebooted. Then, after reboot, I put the ipad back in the case, reconnected the keyboard, and went to the logitech control app. I HAD TO REMOVE IT FROM THE CASE FIRST. Then, QWE Alt/option. Then, the update button turned blue, allowed me to click it and update. Fixed!

That's what did it for me.
