Apple TV and YouTube
Only with YouTube does AppleTV remote stick/fail to work. YourTube is the only channel that aslo has buffering issues. Once a week I have to reboot Apple TV— can’t they do better?

Since youtube is a Google App (unrelated to Apple), that would be a question for Google.
But yes, Youtube is known to have issues with the Siri / Apple remote loosing connection and not being able to move the cursor around.
I have found that force closing the Youtube App, and re-opening it sometimes helps fix those issues.
Double click the Tv button on the remote to bring up the app switcher, select the Youtube app card and swipe up to close it. Then open it again.
It would also be a good idea to report the issue to Google / Youtube support so they can fix it: https://support.google.com/youtube#topic=9257498
I have a 2nd Generation Apple TV and the v7.6 update last week has created this problem for me. This update broke the YouTube app on the the older Apple TV's so I think it's on Apple to fix seeing as you can't download the app like you can on the newer Apple TV's.

I shouldn't have to replace it, it still works for the most part. If Apple is doing software updates that says to me they are still supporting the device. Thus they should put out a new update to fix this v7.6 one that broke one item.

The Apple TV Software 7.6 update is available to Apple TV (3rd generation), not Apple TV (2nd generation). The last update for Apple TV (2nd generation) was in 2014.
Works fine for me. You might try deleting the app and reinstalling, or reaching out to the app vendor.
Considering your ATV 2 is close to 10 years old, have you considered replacing it with an Apple TV 4K or at worst a Apple TV HD model?
Apple classified it as obsolete many years ago, however if you want to hold onto it, that is of course up to you.
Best of luck with it.
Sorry, yes, mine is a 3rd gen. Still, the update needs to be updated again to fix it.
