I completed a reminder with a daily reminder and watched it disappear in IOS 14.

I have 1133 reminders. 37 of them come up every day. I watched one with a daily reminder at 8 AM that I had clicked completed in the morning show up as not completed. I clicked it completed last night and it immediately disappeared. That was on my iphone. I went to my ipad to make sure I knew what it was to add it back in... to see it also disappear. I eventually found what it was and added it again. This morning, I went through the morning routine. ThenI noticed that my affirmations on my iphone was not 20, but 19. One more had disappeared. I managed to find it and recreate it. I had a lot of problems with IOS 13. Many of those issues had been fixed with IOS 14... or so I thought.

Pathsmith,

Thank you for that information. To confirm, does restarting your iPhone make any difference? Check out how to restart here: Restart your iPhone. Are these reminders that are listed under iCloud or a different account? Are they disappearing before you mark them as complete? You can force your Reminders to sync again by going to Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Reminders and toggling that off and back on.

Check out this article on what to expect after your upgrade Reminders: Upgrading the Reminders app in iOS 13 or later. Keep in mind that if you upgrade Reminders, if you have a Mac then you'll also need to upgrade to Catalina.

Cheers!

Pathsmith,

Thank you for the info. What Smart list are you in when you this happens? Do you see a "Today" list or an "All" list? When you tap the circle to mark the reminder as complete, select on the "All" Smart list, do you see the reminder that you have set daily there? Check out the section "View your reminders in smart list" here: Use Reminders on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Hope that helps!

PathSmith,

Just to confirm we're on the same page. After you select the circle to make it as completed in the "Affirmation"list for example, you do not see the reminder with tomorrows date under the "All" list for the specific reminder, correct? Does this happen for new reminders that you create as well?

I almost always restart my iphone and ipad before I do my reminders. As I do them, I sometimes restart my iphone again because it is not showing the changes. It often shows up when I restart.

I have only one account on iCloud. They disappear when I click the circle - they are supposed to repeat.

I have done the process of syncing my reminders with IOS 12. The process took a really long time, like weeks, maybe months. I was very patient. It finally completed right as IOS 13 came into being. I am reluctant to go through the process again.

It has happened in Affirmations, Innate, and A Course in Miracles list. I see a “Today” list and an “All” list. I have gone through the individual lists to click the circle. I do see my lists on the All list. You want me to check the circle from the All list? I like going through the Affirmation list, the Prayers, the Innate, the Invocations, the Group A Course in Miracles with 7 sublists of A Course in Miracles, with 6 others including a list of daily Course in Miracles lessons. I have 410 scheduled reminders. Today, I had to click the i and changed to date to next day for the tomorrow to show up. The click on the circle didn’t cause the tomorrow to show up.

Just to be clear, I click on the circle to complete the reminder and it went away. This happened several times. I have created the missing reminder several times. I am currently leaving the two identical reminders to make sure I don’t lose it again. I didn’t check in the All list because I never used the All list. I did check in the specific reminder list that it had been in.

That particular disappearing act hasn’t happened for a day or two. I do have reminders that were clicked that became unclicked. Several of them showed up again after my completing them this morning when I came home. I believe that only happened on my iphone and not my ipad.

Hi Pathsmith,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. Sounds like your Reminders are disappearing randomly, do we have that correct? What version of iOS 14 is installed? The latest version is iOS 14.0.1. If you haven't updated, we'd recommend doing so by following these steps: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

How much storage is currently available on your iPhone? Here's How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. If it's almost full, you may want to free up some space on your iPhone.

Take care!

I have the most recent version of IOS 14.0.1. I have 151 gig available on my ipad out of 256 Gig.. I have 180 gig available out of 256 gig on my iphone. The problem happened again today. I do manage to remember what went away. I search for it and recreate it. Then it sometimes reappears. I’ve learned to keep both reminders around in case it happens again. I’ve learned to clear all the apps and reboot before doing the reminders. That helps. Today a whole series of one set just wasn’t changing to tomorrow. Some of them change to a date different than daily, weekly. I just go in an change the date for those to be correct. It does seem that the problem often, but not always, comes from the first one in the list.

I have not found that the first device that I update updates the other. It used to in Version 12. Never in Version 13. It may have done a few in Version 14. With the latest update, the changes that I’ve made have being randomly undone. I would update each reminder and later I would find a number, sometimes a lot, be no longer updated. I would go through those that were undone and click them again. It definitely is working better with 14.0.1.
