Sleep's alarm sounds only on Apple watch

I'm using the new sleep feature in IOS14 while wearing the Apple Watch during sleep. I don't understand why the alarm goes off only on the watch (moreover just vibrating) and not on the phone. Is there any way to let the alarm go off both on the watch and on the phone? or just on the phone perhaps?

iPhone 6s, iOS 14

Hello Groppello,

We understand you are looking for a way to have your Sleep alarm sound on both devices, or just the iPhone. You’re in the right place, we’d be glad to assist in seeking a solution.

When wearing the Apple Watch the Sleep alarm will only sound on your watch: More information here: Track your sleep with Apple Watch

To get the alarm to sound on your iPhone while wearing your watch, you would need to set up another alarm following the steps here: Set an alarm on iPhone

Have a great day.

I think I understand the community specialists reply. When you set your sleep schedule on the clock app, the alarm will make only your Apple Watch vibrate but if you have a regular alarm set, it’ll make sound on your phone at the same time. I think that’s why they’re suggesting two alarms, because one will only make your watch vibrate but the other will go off on both.

Does that make sense?

It’s definitely an inconvenience to not have the option to customize where your alarm goes off.

I have the same problem. Since the update it goes on my watch as haptic only. I charge my watch over night so this is totally useless. I haven’t seen any way to fix this in Sleep, and a regular alarm doesn’t allow the soft to loud setting like sleep does. I can’t see any way to get this back on my phone short of killing Bluetooth when I go to bed. I’m going to try that next, but this is a crappy workaround for a clear defect.

That is what they’re saying. But it’s fundamentally wrong. The sleep function worked prior to the iOS change. It would play your wake up tube quietly to louder. It was a nice gentle way to wake up. The. The iOS upgrade screwed us all by sending it to your watch only as a silent alarm. Doesn’t do a **** thing when the watch is on it’s charger! So yes, I’ve now abandoned Sleep and just set a normal Alarm. Good job Apple. Good job.

This doesn’t make any sense. Why would I want to set TWO alarms? Prior the most recent IOS update, the bedtime alarm would sound on my phone, which woke me up. However, I could control the alarm (dismiss or snooze) from either my watch or phone. Now “bedtime” only results in a mild haptic vibration on my watch, which doesn’t wake me up. We should be able to decide which device, or both, we want the alarm to sound on.
