The new iMac (2020) as an external monitor?

I am planning my new home-office setup, where I plan to use the new iMac for private stuff and a Windows based laptop (PC) for work-related stuff (my employer only support PC and not Mac, to be able to access internal resources from VPN).

I want to connect my laptop to an external monitor, and wonder whether it would be an option to use the new iMac for this purpose, instead of using an additional external monitor ?

Nope sorry, you will need to use an external monitor because the 2020 iMac does not support being used as a monitor.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Do you know 100% sure that the new iMac cannot be used as an external PC-monitor? I think I have heard that this option was available for older iMacs at least, but Apple might have decided not to allow this any longer (for strategic reasons, perhaps?)

TeamViewer and likewise would not be a good solution, as you point out.

Anyway - thanks for the clarifications!
