Cannot delete apps in iOS14

I cannot delete apps in iOS14 on my iPhone8. Literally, nothing happens. If I long-press an app in the home screen I get a pop-up with options to "remove app" or "edit homescreen" but none of these do anything. I don't get the much-heralded options to choose whether to remove the app from the home screen or delete altogether. Edit homescreen will get the apps jiggling with a minus sign - but hitting that does nothing.

No joy in the App Library either.

I am set up to allow app deletion in the screentime restrictions. Anyone else? Any ideas? Thanks.

Hey! This happened to me about 10 minutes ago and strangely it was a quick fix. I got the message saying I needed to delete stuff for storage and went to delete photos. This didn’t work and would delete for half a second then appear back. It did the same with my apps. I deleted some videos by reviewing personal videos on general > iphone storage and then offloaded a couple of apps and deleted them. Now it’s letting me do it the normal way through the photo app and holding down on unwanted apps and deleting. Hope this helps
