Shared Control of Music Queue

I want to share control of a music queue (like you used to be able to do with the old Remote app). Since I plan to use an Apple TV with my AV receiver only and won’t even hook it up to a television, I’d like to purchase an older model if that will work. I thought I saw somewhere that this feature isn’t available on some models, but now I can’t find whatever it is I saw. Do I need at least an HD or 4K, or can I get an older model.

Hello NRRIndy,

It sounds like you want to share control of a music queue like you were able to do in the Apple TV remote app because you plan on connecting to an AV receiver.

  1. Will you take a look at the following article and let us know if it reflects the way you are describing wanting to be configured with an AV receiver: Set up Wireless Audio Sync with Apple TV.
  2. We think you may find the information in the following article helpful: Set up the Apple TV Remote on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Please note: "The Apple TV Remote in Control Center works only with Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, Apple TV (3rd generation), and AirPlay 2-compatible smart TVs."
  3. To learn how to Share control of the queue refer to: Add music to your queue to play next on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device. Specifically the section titled "Share control of a music queue on Apple TV or HomePod."
