file transfer to and from Apple iPad and PC with Windows10 without internet (NO Internet)

I bought a new iPad ver7, I like the device. But...

I need as simple way of storing images in folders on the iPad which I can copy as a folder onto my PC and back to iPad without using the internet or WIFI.

Yes I can store files in "PHOTOS" and access them. The iPad stores them in Apple iPad/Internal Storage/DCIM/100APPLE.

The problem is that I am unable to store them in any organized fashion. The iPad just dumps all the photos/files into 1 folder and I am unable to access any other folders on the iPad other than the "PHOTOS" unless I use iCloud or iTunes which has nothing to do with any tunes at all. I seem to be able to sort these into albums which are not folders and are not retained when using the USB cable to transfer.

I also do not want to store anything in the cloud unless I need to share it. I'm not always connected to the internet.

This is my first iAnything and I'm beginning to question whether it was a good idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello ooipad,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are trying to get pictures from your computer to your iPad and back again. To get photos from your computer to your iPad, please follow the steps in this Apple resource, as this should be done with iTunes on your computer:

Sync photos in iTunes on PC with devices

To get pictures from your iPad to your computer, you should be using the Windows Photos app and here is more info on this:

Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Import photos and videos from phone to PC

For other types of files, please see this section of the iPad User Guide:

Transfer files between iPad and your computer

Cheers!

Hi jdo_apple,

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately itunes seems to be heavy on syncing which is not what I want. It just adds hundreds of irrelevant garbage files to my computer and focuses on music and photos.

File transfer is what I'm looking for, but I have to do it by App?? I simply wanted a good file manager to allow me to bulk transfer any files of my choosing regardless of what App they happen to belong to or not. I want to be able to keep files grouped by my job or project not by application. Sometimes I use multiple Apps on the same files.

I was told by another person who uses Apple products that I would need to "jail break" the device ...seriously?

Anyway, if you know of an App or know of another way to manage and transfer files for my iPad to PC, that would be awesome.

Alternatively, a good simple work around without doing multiple conversions and copies would be great too.

I'm really trying to like this device as I've sucumbed to the Apple hype and purchased my first device outside decades of Windows PCs, Linux servers, Android tablets and phones.

Cheers,

Peter
