iOS 14 update...importing photos
I’ve just updated my iPad Pro to iOS 14, and now can’t find the import tab in photos to download pictures from my digital camera. Where's it gone to?

I was having the same issue with my GoPro Hero 8 but after much frustration of trying different USB cables etc looked at the USB connection in the GoPro settings.
Once I changed it to MTP the iPad picked up a connected device and I am able to import again.
May be worth checking if your device has USB connection settings and play around to see if the iPad picks it up.
I have the exact same problem... I see the devices subheading, but when I tap it nothing happens. I am using an Apple SD card reader, and never had a single issue until this stupid 14.1 upgrade...
so much for IOS 14.1 making it more user friendly...
Please help, my iPad has the latest update 14.2 installed. Since the update the iPad doesn’t respond when I connect my canon camera via USB apple connector, which I have used successfully for the pass three years. And I can’t find the device button in the menu on the left side. Tried rebooting but nothing.
The “Devices” menu only appears after a device is connected. It is normally not visible. Make sure the menu is open, then plug in your card reader or camera. “Devices” should appear in the menu with the connected device listed.
I have found the ‘Devices’ tab opens up when the camera and iPad are connected (in my case an Olympus E M10 111 camera via Apple usb camera adapter) in the iPads ‘Photos’.....Hit the Photos tab on the iPad desktop which opens photos....when I press ‘storage’ on the camera, ‘Devices’ appears in the left column but NOT until that command from the camera has been made. Underneath the ‘Devices’ is ‘Untitled’ which is my camera unnamed as yet and when pressing that the ‘photos’ page alters where all the images are and the select of photos can be made to import. But these don’t appear to be in dated order?
This is certainly NOT as easy as when I first bought the iPad as it acted the same as my husbands mini iPad ie. automatically showing ‘Import photos’.
I have spent hours talking to and using Apple chat and so far none of the agents have sorted this.
My husband and I think it’s an IOS 14.2 bug issue.......or the iPad is faulty!
14.2 must be the Apple equivalent of a Windows upgrade, gets worst. Don’t like the changes to Photos. Should have given us more editing features and left the program structure alone. Had to Google what to do, upgrade to 14.2 not the least bit intuitive.
In iPad photo menu, “devices” appears and also “untitled” when using card reader with adapter, but nothing downloads. If connected directly to camera iPad shows “device uses too much power”. All worked before update.
Look under devices and click on camera icon
I should have added that you need to have the SD card and adapter inserted for this heading to appear.
i have the sd card adapter attached to the iPad, and the sd card inserted into the adapter...no options
show up for devices/camera icon...?
In Photos, tap the top left icon, which toggles the side menu on and off. When open, a “Devices” sub menu will open and show your connected device or card reader.
We too could not upload until I read your tip. Thanks.
Where does the "devices" sub menu appear? Can someone screenshot it? I have tried two Canon cameras with the usb cable adapter and nothing happens.
I’m having the same problem. There’s nothing that shows Devices anywhere on the photo menu.
The Devices sub menu only appears when a card reader with an inserted card is plugged into your iPad. Otherwise it is not there.
