Hello!
On the current iOS 14 The HDMI adapter is not being detected. The phone is charging using the adapter, but not the screen mirroring.
Tried using another iPhone with iOS 13 installed and it worked fine.

Solution that working for me.
Have an iPhone SE2020, IOS 14.2.
Nothing worked.
I have a Chinese HDMI adapter (with 2 USBs). Plugged in power lightning cable, HDMI cable, an vs phone.
Noticed that Adapter Menu showed on Dumb TV (running from adapter), and that it showed a picture of an iPhone with WIFI and Bluetooth turned ON!
Well, I didn't think it was necessary in my attempts before... but i turned both ON.... And it all worked!
By the way.. Airplay was OFF in settings.
Display Zoom was Off.
(Some people suggest toggling them.. But didn't work for me).

Same thing with me too. Some of the comments talk about work arounds by toggling the airplay settings, updating apps, or turning phone off and on. I’ve done all of that, but my phone just acts like it doesn’t even register that there is an adapter plugged into it... I just can’t get it to work. Great job Apple!
I'm also having the same issue. I use iPhone 7 and iPad mini 4 via the lightning port HDMI adapter.
Both devices were working well with the last OS version...
*** Update ***
The latest IOS update fixes this issue. Try to update again and you should get IOS 14.0.1
After this update, the lightnin HDMI port works fine.
Mine ‘generally’ works but I still have to toggle settings on and off under AirPlay & Handoff every couple days... IOS 14 is still broken
