Apple watch no longer opens MacBook Pro

Since I updated my Apple Watch to watchOS 7.0, I can no longer open my MacBook Pro with my Apple Watch. I've tried restarting my MacBook, turning on the setting under System Preferences, etc, and nothing works. I get a message that my watch is unable to communicate with my Mac. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hi lcp1019!

It sounds like you’re unable to unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch, and we're happy to help. Please make sure your Apple Watch, Mac, and iPhone are fully up to date:

Update your Apple Watch

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

How to update the software on your Mac

Next, please restart all three devices:

Restart your iPhone

How to restart your Apple Watch

Log out, sleep, restart, or shut down your Mac

Cheers!

Same problem. The dialogue box in System/Privacy says "turning on" when I check "Use your Apple Watch to unlock apps and your Mac" but then, after a minute or so, gives the "unable to communicate with your Apple Watch" window and asks that I check to make sure my watch is on my wrist, powered, iPhone is unlocked, etc. (this was all done per instructions). I followed the safe mode restart recommended procedure. Restarted watch, iPhone, iMac. Get the same warning when I go to the "unable to communicate". This all happened since the 14/7 updates (hand in hand with the Activity app failure from the same updates!)
