Got my new Apple Watch Series 6 and yesterday and today when doing some light swimming it restarted. The white Apple logo shows up for a good while. Both times while swimming. Possibly one additional time when not swimming when I noticed I had to reenter my passcode despite not taking it off my wrist.

I too am having the same problem. I just bought my Apple Watch less than a week ago and today I noticed that my watch was just rebooting on its own. I was having the same problem with my 4 and I believed that it was because it was an older version.

my watch (series 6) would reboots on its own constantly showing the Apple logo, as soon as I would touch the watch face it would reboot once again to the Apple logo.

Hi Mrswill75,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. Being able to rely on your Apple Watch is important! It sounds like yours is restarting unexpectedly. We'd like to see how we can help.

When you say it's glitching, what exactly is happening?

When it restarts, do you see the Apple logo? Does it start back up after?

As a starting point for troubleshooting, we recommend backing up your paired iPhone and making sure it's up-to-date, and then updating your Apple Watch. Here are the links:

Take care.

I swim every day, and every day I have this same occurrence. After my swim when I'm changing in the locker room (usually within 5 minutes of exiting the pool) I see that my serious 6 watch is rebooting on its own. For a few minutes I get the white apple logo & then everything returns to normal. I can't interact with the watch at all until it completes this "cycle". It's not a "sometimes" occurrence - it happens every single day right after my swim. It does not ask for a passcode or anything. I just have to wait for it to "do its thing". I am using the fitness indoor swim activity to record my swim data. I never had this with my series 5 - which I used in exactly the same way.

I’m having the same issue with the watch 6 LTE restarting during or after a workout. Seems to happen more frequently when the LTE coverage is poor. Also has it disconnected permanently from LTE a couple of times even when moving back into coverage before crashing and restarting.

Appears to occur more frequently when listening to radio or music during workout.

My friend has the SE version and has also experienced restarts.

Not happy.

Yes, me too. It happens after a run that I tracked with Adidas running. Series 6 LTE. I'm running only with the watch, the iPhone remains at home.

Once it did a reboot after 7 or 8 kilometers. I'm not quite happy about this behaviour and it seems it happens very often after tracking a longer workout (more than 20 minutes).

Today it even restarted itself while I was doing nothing. Kindly it doesn't expect me to enter the passcode, what I find critical though.

I went on a 1.5h run this morning (sans phone) using WorkOutDoors to navigate/record activity. At the same time I listened to radio using Air Pods 2 (until cell coverage disappeared in bushland), then to offline music, then again to radio as I went back into reception area). Before, Recording activity combined with fringe reception and streaming was a sure way to crash the watch, or at the very least lose LTE (requiring a restart to re-connect). Today, all good!

So I feel a little more confident now, that the issue was successfully addressed in 7.1.

How is everybody else travelling with 7.1?

Same issue here. Mine starts as a restart once in a blue moon and then it starts to do it more and more until it’s in a constant boot loop and unusable if I leave it on the charger for a couple days will work for a few hours and start doing it again. I’ve already done several factory data reset’s and started not from a back up Apple has also exchanged it for another one and the new one is having the same issues so I’m sure it’s something software related. I spent an hour on the phone with them today they said they’re sending the info to their engineers has anybody else had luck in getting this fixed yet?

Both mine and my wife’s reboot constantly, mine now restarts 5+ times per hour. It doesn’t depend what I’m doing, at brunch today everyone around the table watched as my watch rebooted 14 times in two hours while sitting on the table at 94% battery. Apple support hasn’t helped either of us they just keep telling us it’s a software issue and they’re working on it but can’t tell us when it’ll be fixed, in the mean time it’s practically useless since most of the time you get a notification, look at the watch, and it reboots. They’ve already replaced them and same thing within 24 hours they started rebooting again.

I have a Series 6 Apple Watch that is also restarting. This problem started several months ago with my Apple Watch 4 which never restarted after owning it for a year and a half. Then all it did was restart and was very difficult to unpair and pair to my iPhone X. I contacted Apple Care Support and talked to over 10 different support staff including a high level support engineer and the problem could not be fixed. They sent me a replacement which worked for a few days and then also started restarting. Then I thought it was my iPhone. Apple did not find any problems with my iPhone. They advised me to reset it which I did. My watch worked for two days and then started restarting. Then I gave up and traded it in for the Series 6 which was about two months ago. Now it is constantly restarting again. Have iOS 14.2 and WatchOS 7.1. Talked to Apple Care support yesterday and told them the whole story again. I also read on several forums of owners with Series 6 also constantly restarting. Really hope Apple releases a software update to fix this issue since the watch is unusable. Both watches are the GPS model.

Wow! Your experience is similar to mine, except that I had iwatch 5 which started constantly rebooting. Sent for repair 3 times, talked to customer care several times since it was less than a year old. Replacement was finally sent but now even that(iWatch6) has started rebooting. I haven’t talked to CC this time, I’m tired of it. Just waiting for them to realize that a lot of people are having this problem and fix it via software update. Is yours the cellular version too? Is that creating this issue?
