Since the ios14 update when I now email photos from my iPhone using either my work outlook or personal GMAIL addresses they are now sent embedded in the email message and not as jpeg attachments to the email. Why is this and how do I fix it or what settings can be changed, if any?
Okay I figured out a fix to this since we can't get a useful response from the Specialists. As a heads up, this was through Outlook, not Gmail, but I am assuming the process would be the same/similar.
There will be a couple of extra random files that won't be used, but a folder with all of the photo files will now appear in the folder you selected to save the email to!

Go to Settings
-Privacy
-Photos
-Gmail and select All Photos
I’ve just tried that but email isn’t there under photos for me.
Ridiculous that jpeg photos are now embedded in the email since ios14 update. Who's brilliant idea was it to do that? Change it back on the next update please!
Hey guys. Since the iOS 14.1 update, I have not been able to load many photos. I turned iCloud Drive back on and it lets me link several pics in one email. They are still embedded though.
Or maybe change to a google phone. I have an iPhone and it seems as if ios14 just designed to attack gmail users, a conspiracy!

apple clear has a problem, just read all the other comments on the thread. It’s not just gmail or just me.
I’m not sure if that solution works but it would in any case rely on the user using Outlook. I use Mail and have tried Outlook in the past on iPads and found it lacking.
Apple, are you going to fix this? As others have stated, this is a problem with YOUR iOS software, not the email client. This is a major impact to using an iPhone for my needs.
If I send the picture using the Mail app, it's embedding. (It used to attach) But if I send the picture using the Outlook app, it attaches. At least I can do this much.
And if you use the gmail app it just crashes the app.
Ok...just tried again. No crash this time, but just embedding.
I just tried your suggestion of sending the photos via the Outlook app and IT WORKED!! You have just eliminated so much frustration that was caused by Apple!! Thank you so much Jeffrey O.
I can attach one photo and no more through the paper clip attachment. After IOS 14.2 who screwed this up so badly??
Having same issues, and is very frustrating to say the least. I email photos all day at work, and they need to be sent as attachments, not embedded in the email. Please fix ASAP
Yes, outlook did work for me, but it takes several seconds to as long as a minute, depending on how many pix I email, usually 6-10 per email. Using the phone email app sends the pix instantly.
