Some heic photos not showing in iMessages iOS 14

I am seeing the same thing happen with a contact of mine. I am using iOS 14.01 on an iPhone X, they are running 14.0.1 as well on an iPhone 8. My HEIC photographs are sending fine, but when they send photos using that format they do not come through. We tested changing from HEIC to JPEG and since them they are all sending fine as JPEGS.

ios 14.1 seemed to fix the problem with new messages with photos in HEIC format, but the old photos still show up as icons.

It’s extremely annoying and happening in more than just one particular contact for me. I never had this issue before iOS14. Is there way to increase visibility for this thread or have it get more traction? Really at a loss here.

iPhone XR here, same thing since upgrading to 14.0. So far 2 contacts have come through that way. But not all the time. And if in a group text, not everyone in the group sees them that way. Also having the keyboard lag often. Things were working perfect for so long! Ahhh!

I have the same issue, but I am seeing it on jpeg photos. It seemed (for me) to have started with some people who got new iPhone 12s. I thought upgrading to 14.1 resolved it, but I got a new photo and it happened again. I can see the photos fine on messages on macOS. I also see the lag when starting to type which is definitely new in iOS 14.

XR user, I have as well had photos not showing up with only certain contact message threads, (must click on blank photo message to view). This is happening with multiple contacts, it happens to be with my most active contact threads. It’s problematic with solo & group threads. I’ve tried deleting threads and contacts, then re-entering, but it does not fix it. I have cleared GB space, but have plenty of open storage. I have the horrible texting leg as well. Phone was great up until IOS 14 update. Currently running 14.2

Yep this is happening to me too. Anyone got any ideas? Latest 14.0.1 installed and still the same.

I'm having the exact same issue and can find very few threads about this. This started happening for me with last week's update. I'd love to find resolution - it's a really annoying bug.

I’m experiencing the same issue. I’m using an iPhone XS Max running the latest update with iMessage backing up to iCloud. Hoping someone has a fix or an update is pushed soon!

This is still happening to me as well. Anyone find a fix? Updated to iOS14.0.1 hoping it would resolve and it did not.

Exact same thing happening to me. And the keyboard lag is laughable.
