Skype Camera

I’m so frustrated that I can’t use Skype on my new MacBook Air. I can see my contacts but they can’t see me! I’ve tried going to Preferences, Audio/Visual and then clicked on camera as suggested on Apple support. It shows there is a built in camera but the screen is blank. There are no Apps at all for me to click to install the camera. My son who lives abroad bought the MacBook Air for me so that we could Skype!!! Except now I can’t. Help!

Hello Bendy-Ag20,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with your FaceTime Camera working with Skype on your MacBook.

Have you been able to test the camera in a different app, to ensure its functional? If not, try using Photo Booth to test it out.

-Take a photo or record a video in Photo Booth on Mac

Have you checked to make sure that both your macOS and Skype software are up to date?

-How to update the software on your Mac

If everything is updated, it's possible you may need to delete and reinstall Skype to correct the issue.

Best wishes.
