For iPhone 7's that have a loose Audio IC not even iOS 25.x is going to fix it. If your speaker is grayed out and all you can do is use BT, as you have described, it is a hardware problem. It is not caused by any update, although doing one can reveal it and your really have 3 options: (a) Pay Apple for an out-of-warranty replacement and get a service replacement unit. I would not go that route at this point when you can buy a new iPhone SE 2020 for less than $100 more, (b) buy some other phone or (c) find a 3rd party repair shop that can do microlevel soldering and have them re-ball the four connection points that are usually at issue, and do ask and make sure they did all four. Prices have been dropping for this option. Keep in mind if you go this route Apple may refuse future service on your iPhone, but that really should not be an issue.

Unbelievable I had exact same problem after the upgrade. Did everything as shared in many posts but no good. I can connect to Bluetooth device but cant connect anything using audio. I went apple store as well and as expected they are saying hardware showing dead/no presence and offer a replacement with $370+taxes for similar iPhone 7 as i am out of warranty... Way to go Apple and with losing customer loyalties....

That's insanely great, and here is the update:

Love to hear it -- this kind of Apple's behavior (denying, ignoring, covering) is certainly not acceptable.

No, everyone doesn't say that. If you do a search you will find many posts where people's Audio IC came loose and failed NOT during any update. As I said earlier a major update can reveal the flaw as it sends signals to different components of the iPhone and can end up with a failure. And there are some instances where doing a restore MAY resolve this for a while.

But my iPhone 7 Plus, which I passed down to a woman with 5 little boys, DID NOT fail during an update. She started having intermittent problems with it and then finally she could only use it with BT headphones/speakers. The first to go for her was the microphone on the bottom of the iPhone, second was wired headphones and finally the speakerphone failed.

I forgot one more option: I traded that phone in on an iPhone SE 2020 for someone else who broke their iPhone 6s. They did not check to see if the speaker or mics worked.

You can search the internet for virtually anything and find some nitwit fact. Notice you said focused on not that it happened. But no programmer can right software that will cause a solder ball to break connection with the logic board. It is a matter of physics and science.

Some people do have issues with the microphone or speakers or a speaker not working that may be software. But it can normally be resolved. But when mine stopped it was not after doing an update and all mics and speakers failed. As I said earlier in this thread you can slap the phone into the palm of your hand or press hard on the middle up on the right hand of the screen and sometimes make it work temporarily. That will be hardware.

I traded mine in.

Not too sure what removed post you’re talking about.

I don’t work for Apple, I had an iPhone 7 that did the same thing with the iOS 12 update, I was just as confused and determined to fixed the problem as everyone here so I tried to research the answer, combing through the internet and watching YouTube videos of people re-soldering the audio ic back in to place and after that the problem is fixed.

For everyone sake, I hope I’m wrong. I hope it’s a simple software solution, I tried waiting for the updates as well in iOS 12 and that didn’t fix it.

I’m not a troll, I’m trying to help this thread understand the position they’re in, the same position I was in a year ago.
