iPhone 7 Mic Problem iOS 14

I recently updated my iPhone 7 to IOS 14. Now the microphone doesn't work so I can't make phone calls (they can't hear me and I can't hear them, send audio messages or talk to Siri. Anyone else encounter this issue. Is there a way to fix this. Please help!!!!

Same, started today after IOS 14 update. This is a nightmare with working at home. I’ve tried everything and can’t find a fix. I can make calls with a Bluetooth headset as a temporary workaround but none of my apps that require listening work. Siri, voice notes, guitar tuner, Duolingo, voice to text, FaceTime, zoom, etc. All disabled.

Anyone got connections to the press or a good social media following that can make this issue public and put some pressure on apple

i don’t own this phone it’s my works and my IT dept have been very helpful by saying we sent an email telling people to hold off upgrading and it has nothing to do with them (THANKS) so I can’t do too much

Everyone on here has a phone that worked before the update now doesn’t

so the only way your logic holds up is if iOS 14 uses different pins on the audio IC than iOS 13 does

would this also prevent it working with wired headphones

I still think it’s more likely software and because apple won’t do the repair if an independent does it and it doesn’t work then what

Just google for loop disease before blaming, it's not that hard... Same thing happened when iOS 12 and iOS 13 came out. It's a design flaw in 7/7+ models and Audio IC connectors soldering gets damaged in time (gets bent?) depending on the usage and each particular unit, same as with "No service" Baseband IC issue for 7. iOS updates are a trigger as there's a hardware check during the update (google for details, don't know more than this).

This is just a reply to the original question. If you have some other device model reasons can be different. Best way to check for a software issue is to make a backup, factory reset and set up as new. If the issue is still there -- hardware, if not -- software.

The only way this is hardware is if iOS 14 uses different pins on the audio IC to 13 and all our phones have the same disconnected pins

saying do a backup and reset to factory settings doesn’t prove jack

as you still have iOS 14 on the phone so it’s still the same software/firmware even if you don’t restore from a backup

only if you can go back to 13 could you prove if it is hardware or software

i still say it’s software and most likely to do with the orange dot

Apple swapped my 7 Plus for a new one. The Genius Bar member was asking questions which suggested he was aware of the issue specific to iPhone 7 models. He tried to run an audio diagnostic but claims he was having issues connecting it to the service so he simply gave me a new iPhone 7. I was quite surprised! What may have helped my case was the fact the same apple store provided a screen replacement less than two months ago which I paid for.

No my phone was purchased in 2016 so it was well out of warranty. Like I said, maybe because the screen replacement work was guaranteed they decided to cover it. The Genius rep claims that they had no way fo testing it to confirm what the issue was caused by. So now I have an iPhone 7 Plus on IOS 14.0.1 and its working perfectly.

Try: 1. Turn off Wifi calling and have cellular data on 2. Turn off and on phone. Try making call to see if you can now be heard. After iOS14.0.1 update i have to make call using cellular and have to turn off cellular and turn on wifi and turn on and off phone to use wifi to use internet keeping cellular off the update is affecting the phone's ability to toggle between cellular and wifi
