Magic Trackpad and Keyboard extremely laggy and disconnecting after Catalina 10.15.7 upgrade

Has anyone noticed any problems with their (1st gen) Magic Trackpad and Apple keyboard after upgrading to 10.15.7?

Mine are now almost unusable due to frequent disconnections and inconsistent responsiveness.

I've tried resetting the Bluetooth subsystem and deleting an re-pairing the keyboard and trackpad, and rebooting, without improvement.

Are there any other bluetooth debugging options I should try? Safe mode? PRAM reset?

This helped. Reset the PRAM while I was at it.

Quick update on my problem. Curiously, the problem had disappeared when I woke my MBP16 up this morning.... both trackpad and keyboard (both original version 1, that I've had for years) are working as normal.

This is good of course, but I'm still none the wiser as to what caused the lagginess. I'm wondering if there was some radio-frequency interference somewhere in my house that was affecting the Bluetooth signals?

Ever since I updated to Catalina it happens with Magic Mouse 1 and 2. Need a fix soon, may need to 86 the magic.
