Nano Sim and E sim

i have an iphone se a1723. i currently have a BT contract in the UK but would also like to purchase a Italian SIM. how and does an esim work?

  1. If you are planning on using two DIFFERENT carriers (One Physical SIM and one eSIM) then ensure that your iPhone is unlocked to use with multiple carriers. Call your current carrier and validate.
  2. Find out whether the carrier in Italy has the eSIM feature. This is assuming that the Physical SIM is already used by BT (UK).
  3. If your Italian carrier has the eSIM feature then they will have a procedure to add the plan to your iPhone.

The difference between a Physical SIM and an eSIM is that the eSIM is an electronic (software) SIM while the Physical SIM is that SIM card that you inset in your iPhone in the SIM drawer.
