Security Update 2020-005 Mojave

I installed Security Update 2020-005 Mojave this morning and restarted my iMac. Everything quit working properly. I ran disk first aid-no help. Tried restarting 3 times-no help. I finally restored HD through time machine. What's up here?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.14

Untested Apple mischief, as it slowed my MacBook Air to a crawl that was working normally with Mojave 10.14.6 (18G6020) beforehand. Others are reporting your experience or those similar to mine. Only the macOS product team knows (or not) what on earth they introduced to bork things up.
