Migration stuck on starting up

I had the same problem. I then cancelled the migration, re- booted the machines and started the process again. This time when I got to the screen that asked what I wanted to migrate I waited for the spinning wheels to finish loading the info before clicking on continue. The migration the. Immediately went passed Starting and began the migration. I suspect that the first time I did not wait for the transferor data to be entered into the screen that asks what I want to migrate.
