I have had my new Apple Watch Series 6 for a few days and it is CONSTANTLY locking itself when I am wearing it. I have sports band and it is tight on my wrist. Any tighter and I would be cutting off circulation. I have cleaned the sensors on the back, and still no lock. I have rebooted it, and no luck. I unlock it with my PIN and within a minute or less it's locked itself. Never had this issue with my old watch.

Little update, I have spoken to apple about the issue, they have recommended to :
These steps didn't do the trick for me, so to go around the issue, I turned off the passcode only losing the ability to pay contactless but all the other functions are working fine.
Apparently Apple engineers are working on it ...
Just tossing my hat into the ring: I too have been having constant locking issues with the Series 6 that I did not have with the 1, 3, or 4.
Tried all the troubleshooting steps and nothing. This is the first time I've ever encountered this issue and it's extremely frustrating. Going to follow this thread to see if any sort of fix is issued.
Any chance you have tattoos? In my case I have a sleeve on my left arm where I wore my watch. The old Series 3 was fine with this, but the new Series 6 didn't like it and was constantly locking. I moved it over to my right arm with no tattoos, and it's working fine. Annoying as I liked to wear my watch on my left arm, but hoping a software update may fix this in the future.
Ugh sorry to hear that. Tattoos really seem to be the issue as on my tattooed arm it's terrible...watch locks literally every 30 seconds. On the non-tattooed arm, unlock it when I put it on, and it stays unlocked all day. Good luck...hopefully a software tweak will fix this for you (and me so I can move it back to my left arm!).
@karina184 I have checked all settings. Passcode is one (simple 4 digit) and unlock with iPhone is also on. I have noticed the watch restart once when I was having issues. With that said, the difference between my tattooed and non-tattooed arms is like night and day. On the tattooed arm it will not stay unlocked, on the non-tattooed arm I put it on, unlock it and it stays unlocked all day long even when I am moving a lot.
I have the same issue with the series 4. Its started as soon as i upgrade my phone to ios14, and the watch to os7. I keep hoping each update will bring a fix but it has not and the device is basically unusable. i can unlock the watch and stare at it and within seconds it locks right in front of my eyes. never had a problem before the update.
so this helped with the locking issue so far, about an hour, but now no notifications on phone or watch and all setting are set correctly to notify. have never had this problem before. restarted both and checked all settings again. we shall see.
So far, all of the above have fixed the problem of the locking. Thank you! And as far as notifications, MacWorld recommended restarting the phone and restarting the Apple Watch and making sure that the Apple Watch was connected, cover to mute is turned off, and that all notifications are set correctly. I did that and it seems to be working today.
So frustrating- I have this issue too and the watch isn't yet a month old- no tattoos on that arm/wrist and Apple support could not help just suggested that I unpair and set up as a new watch, which I have done and then they just left it with to turn off wrist detection , ive tried absolutely everything- all settings are correct and I also find it locks if I turn my wrist or after 5 seconds ( watch is on firmly) - any ideas anyone- its driving me insane :( Software is up to date too

Called customer service and was recommended to turn off wrist detection (Watch - Passcode - Wrist detection), it solved the problem for me.
PS: yes there will be a pop up message saying a lot of the functions won't be available if you turn off the wrist detection, but at least I can use my watch now. Hopefully they'll have an update soon to fix this problem.
But the problem lies in the fact that I don’t want to lose any functionality otherwise it’s pointless me having this watch and that’s what their customer support eventually told me which is not a solution
Very frustrating! locks within seconds - worst part is pauses/halts your workout app too! I am no longer able to capture my runs or walks. No tattoos.
talked to support, went to Best Buy for check up but the watch is fine they said. Can I trade in my 6 for 5?
Yes my Apple Watch series 6 also has this problem. It locks itself all the time when i wear it. Even if i move my hand it locks itself and my nikey sports band is really tight...
ıt will stop circulation if i tighten it more ... this needa a solution
