iPhone 11 no sound notifications when locked

I just got my iPhone 11 and I cannot get it to make sound when the phone is locked. I receive sound notifications when the phone is unlocked but not when it’s locked. I get the banners but no sound so I don’t know to look to see the banner. I’ve searched online and done all of the suggestions I’ve read. I don’t have DND turned on, I even turned off the scheduled DND. IOS is updated. I’ve deleted and reinstalled Twitter and Instagram. Please help!!

Hello racinjunkie,

We see that you're having some trouble receiving your notifications via sound, but you do see the banners. Could you confirm what apps that this involved? Was this only Twitter and Instagram, but are other native apps like Messages or Mail impacted as well?

Also, could you confirm that notifications are not set up to delivery quietly? The setting to check is under 'Manage notifications' in the below article:

Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch  - Apple Support

Additionally, do you have any other Apple devices like an Apple Watch or Mac in use at the time these notifications are coming through with the iPhone being locked at the time?

We look forward to hearing back from you!

Thanks for getting back to us racinjunkie,

You are correct, that the notification should only come to your currently active device, which is outlined at:

Notifications on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

So if your iPhone is active, the notifications should go there. If you're using your watch at the time, the notifications should go there. When answered on one device, they would not arrive on the other. If you're seeing differing behavior, then we would recommend that you Contact Apple Support to look into this further.

Thank you for your response. I had checked everything in that article before. I think the issue is that I also have an Apple Watch but the notifications just aren’t reliably arriving to it, but since I have a Watch the alerts don’t come to the phone. Prior to the iPhone 11 I did get notifications to both the phone and watch which apparently was actually a glitch.
