How can I open my iMovies on 10.1.16 that I created on the old iMovie? None of the Mac suggestions are working

iMovie help. Has anyone successfully opened iMovies from the app from the early 2000's in the new iMovie 10.1.16?

If you are talking about iMovie 6 and earlier, those versions cannot be updated into iMovie 10. You would need the old app to open the projects. For iMovie 7 and later you can update the projects and events into iMovie 10 by doing a File/Update Projects and Events from within iMovie 10.

If you still have your start up discs for when you purchased your old Mac you can download iMovie 6 or iMovie 5 from there.


If you do not have your original discs, you might be able to acquire iMovie 6 as part of the iLife 6 package from a 3rd party vendor like Amazon or ebay. For example:
