Unlocking of iPhone

I recently moved overseas and I contacted my Xfinity carrier to get my iPhone X unlocked. They said the request was put in to get it unlocked by Apple. Two weeks later and it's still not unlocked. I really need to get a SIM card here in my country. How do we go forward? Thanks.

Unlocking phone carrier so I ordered a iphone 7 plus and the person told me it’s unlocked(from USA) but i am from South-America(Suriname)but when I received the phone it wasn’t unlocked.So I contact the person about it and he send a request to Xfinity to unlock it, and Xfinity send this for him but i it still says that the carrier is sim locked it still cant read my simcard what might be the problem?
