Inability to Upgrade to Watchos 7.0.1

I'm on an apple watch, series 3, watchos 7.0 (18R382). Can't update to version 7.0.1. Having this inability since release date. The update is normally (and fully) downloaded to the watch. However, in the end, it pops up a message saying "it wasn't possible to verify the update", then "the watchos update couldn't be verified because there is no connected to the internet" [translated the message for it's on portuguese]. Don't understand that, because the update is fully downloaded (so there has to be a internet connection active), my iPhone is obviously connected (even tried with diferente Wi-Fi) and so is me watch (also tried with different Wi-Fis). PS.: tried turning on and off several times, even formatted (with backup then)

OK, this finally worked for me with new series 6 on an Eero mesh network. I had to pause my 5GHz network by using the Eero app (Settings>Troubleshooting>My device won't connect...) This pauses 5 GHz and switches network to 2.4 GHz for 15 minutes.

1) Now turn off iPhone

2) On Apple Watch go into settings > General> Software Update and Install 7.0.2 using watch alone (on charging dock)

3) Wait 15 to 20 minutes while watch is on its dock

4) Et viola, the watch finally updated to 7.0.2

It looks like the key for me was letting the watch alone do it, but on a 2.4 GHz wifi network.

What a pain!

This exact thing has been happening to me! I unfortunately still have not been able to complete the update. I followed all the trouble shooting apple provided. I unpaired my watch and set it up as a new one for the update and it starts the update but will pause several times and get stuck on the pauses and never fully download. I've forced restarted my phone and watch and have deleted the upgrade to try again countless times and the same thing happens over and over. Apple support also had no answer for me on how to fix this issue.

The same issue here. I have two watches series 4, first, 40mm had no issues to make an update from 7.0.0 to 7.0.2. unfortunate the second one 44mm fails on the same way. I have unpaired it , erased all the content and defined as a new watch. I have checked it with 4 different wifi networks. The phone is Iphone XR. I have troubleshooted it with IOS 14.0 and 14.0.1. still not able to update the version of my watch. So, also looking for potential solution.

Same story here! I’ve spent the last 5 hours (just got delivered 6 hours ago) trying to get my brand new Series 6 to update from 7.0 to 7.0.2. Same errors. Absolutely nothing works. Even though I’m fairly confident it will be fixed eventually, I almost want my $800 back just on principle. Shame on Apple. Unacceptable for a company who prides themselves on making things that “just work”. Boo.

I have this exact same issue. iPhone XS on iOS 14.1 and a brand-new Apple Watch Series 6 44mm that arrived with WatchOS 7.0.1. I've tried everything I'd seen documented online to upgrade to WatchOS 7.0.2, and nothing works. This is really frustrating and absolutely tarnishes the experience of buying a new watch.

Yeah I tried ALL of those things as well. I think I unpaired and started over 4 times last night. Tried every method of rebooting both phone and watch, deleted and re-downloaded the update multiple times, etc. It’s obviously a widespread problem. It’s doubtful, but hopefully someone at Apple is paying attention to this and all the offer threads about this issue. #updategate
