accountsd issue still here over 475% CPU

Will there be a fix anytime soon? The answer marked as solved is no solution at all.

I still got the issue, even after deleting all gmail accounts, deactivating iCloud Keychain and rebooting several times. It disappeared for roughly a day, now its back with over 400% CPU, and i worry since it is heating the device up and spinning the fans like crazy. Oh and there is so much lag, the machine is not usable.. i need this Pro Model for Work.

Hi John and thank you for your reply.

I am referring to the answer that was marked here:

Accountsd process using huge amounts of C… - Apple Community

The idea of the user was to switch off the Wifi connection, which is not a permanent solution, wouldn't you agree? Even the person posting the litte workaround diden't agree with the "Solved" mark his answer was given, because the accountsd CPU overload seems to be something a lot of users are having problems with.

Did you contact Apple Support?

Yes I did and they were (as always) very friendly and tried their best, but no luck so far.

The steps included:

  • Removing all GMail accounts and Keychain (solved it for something around 8 hours. thaen it was back)
  • Removing the iCould Keychain (also no luck).
  • Resetting SMC
  • Resetting NVRAM

But even after 2 sessions no luck so far. This workarounds only helped for 4-5 hours, then the problem returned. But they did actually tell me that they are getting a lot of these right now. Adn a quick google search shows that a lot of external sites are pick up on it as well.

So my question to ask for a general fix instead of single-user workarounds is in my eyes not misplaced. Specially if we take into consideration that the problem startet for most users one day after Apple released the Catalina 10.17.5 Update, BUT has been around much longer then that.
