My iPhone8 was in my purse and when I pulled it out the display had got really huge and I can't get it back to normal. I tried to power it off but the display is so big I can't reach the slider to power it off. Now it has locked itself and I can't unlock it.

Start by double-tapping the screen with 3 fingers. That will usually shrink it back to normal. You should then be able to turn it off as described by sterling r.
