Garageband not starting up ever but Logic Pro X Trial works just fine

I have been using the Logic Pro X Trial for the 90 days and it finally ran out so I was hoping to download Garageband for Mac to continue with at least a part of the workflow I've grown to love. To my dismay, Garageband won't even boot up the first time. I've uninstalled it twice and both times the first boot up seems like it will start because it bounces for a while, but then it hides away. Every other time it instantly hides away. I don't understand why Logic would work so well, but Garageband can't make it through the first boot. Has anyone else had a similar issue?
