How to connect your IMAC screen and extend it to your MacBook, instead of the other way around.

Hi, can you connect your IMAC screen and extend it to your MacBook? Anytime I connect my iMac to my MacBook, and click command-F2 it just extends my MacBook screens. I have an iMac 2 and a MacBook Pro. I know how to extend the display from my MacBook to the iMac, but what about extended my display from my iMac to my MacBook.

Extending a screen between two iMac I have an old (late 2012) iMac 27'' running El Capitan and would like to use it as a second screen for my newer (2020) iMac running Monterey. I managed to have the El Capitan iMac to mirror my Monterey screen but got stuck to make the setup of an extended display. Any ideas of what could I try? Thanks in advance!

Only iMac’s that support Target Display Mode can be used as the host screen. The MacBook does not support being used as the host screen.

No, only the iMac can be used as the host.
