Airpods Pro Firmware Update from 2D27 to 3A283

I have been unable to update the firmware for my Airpods Pro from SD27 to the newest 3A282.

I am using my iphone with iOS 14.2.

My Airpods Pro are in their case, connected to a charger, and are at 100% charge (the case and both Airpods).

My iphone and Airpods Pro are connected via bluetooth and my iphone is connected to wifi.

I have left my iphone and the Airpods Pro next to each other for several hours and I have tried several times over the last week.

I tried "forget this device" on the bluetooth settings and reconnected the Airpods Pro. I reset the Airpods Pro and reestablsihed a connection with my iPhone. I tried using my iphone with iOS 14 and I tried with iOS 14 public beta.

What is the issue?

It would be nice to have really nailed down, precise instructions with every possible detail (case lid open, closed, full charged, wifi, LTE, etc etc.)

Thank you for the help.

Hi there, I am having the same issue and have reached Apple's advisors for this issue. We attempted to disconnect the AirPods from my iPhone, to restore to the factory setting of AirPods, and to do what you did. However, the problem still persists. I am an user of iPhone XS Max and just updated to iOS 14.2 this morning. Not sure whether it is related to iOS system, or anything else? Hope that Apple will get this problem fixed as soon as possible.
