Double-Clicking Title Bars to Minimize Windows in OS X

I want to be able to double click on any application window including Safari or Firefox to minimise it like in Windows. Apparently you could set this fairly easily https://osxdaily.com/2012/05/21/quickly-minimize-windows-in-mac-os-x-with-a-keyboard-shortcut-or-double-click/ but I don't see that in Catalina ?

update so I have got it to work for MS Office on my Mac but not Safari? by doing this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4138848

Also when you click on the red x to close an application why doesn't it ever close? you have to press Command Q to close it which is stupid.

Does this occur for a different user, e.g., Guest? How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.

Does this occur after starting up in Safe Mode

Consider the possibility of a third party software conflict.  EtreCheck can be used to investigate what is installed.  Give it Full Disk Access. You can post the report here. Someone might spot something.

I am still really learning OSX after using Windows for over 15 years. The double click does work but only when the app is not full screen. It is a bit of a pain having to go to Exit full screen which is far over to the left hand side. In windows you can just click the top of the window and select minimize.
