Can I send a password protected email attachment? If so, how?

Additionally,if the attachment is a .pdf, you can password protect it using Preview app - you assign a password and the recipient will need to enter that password if they want to open the .pdf.

Thank you. Your answer looks simple, the first answer will require some study on my part. I think yours is the answer I want -
it is just a one time event. I will try it soon and hopefully this is all I need.
