iPhone SE can receive iMessage but can only send text messages

I recently started with T-Mobile and got a new 2020 iPhone SE. Ever since then, I can receive iMessages but I can only send text/SMS messages (green bubble).

When I'm typing, the three dots appear on the receivers phone, but the message only goes through as a text.

I do have "send as SMS" checked so that if iMessage is not available to send as text. When I turn that off, I just get a message that says cannot be delivered.

I used to be on Verizon with an old iPhone SE and never had this problem.

I even have this problem when I am connected on my home wifi.

I'm sure it's something simple that I'm missing but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

Greetings Me3503,

We see you're having some trouble with sending iMessages, but not receiving them. We'll be happy to help look into some options for this with you.

To start, does this happen with a single contact, or all contacts? If it's happening with just a single contact, you may want to delete the iMessage thread and start a new conversation with them.

We'd also like to have you try the steps outlined in this article: If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Let us know what you find.

All the best.
