Ios 14 fast charging not working

I noticed that my iPhone X won't fast charging after iOS 14 update. I use 18W PD charger with USB-C to Lightning cable that works perfectly fine in iOS 13 and i don't get double chime either on iOS 14. Does anyone have some issues?

Yes 100% same with me. SE 2. iOS 13 no issues using 18w. Now I plug it in same phone on iOS 14 and it will charge for 20-30 seconds then just stop. If I unplug and plug back in will start again for 20-30 seconds. When this happens the charging symbol goes back to white and the lightning bolt goes away till I re plug it in. This is with apple 18w and apple USB c to lightning cord. I had been using a different 18w plug and thought that might have been the issue so bought apples and it hasn’t helped. I only noticed this as after sitting for a half hour it hadn’t charged so it’s not like it’s charging but not showing

Hi everyone,

I had the same problem of no longer hearing the double chime sound when plugging in my iPhone Xr for Fast Charge, with a USB-C to Lighting MFi certified cable and a PD charger, ever since the iOS 14 update. Initially, I've found this forum and some other where the same problem was discussed, with no resolution however. Also, I didn't have the time to physically test if Fast Charging actually still works or not, until today.

Luckily, I own the above Fast Charging cable/s (USB-A to Lighting and USB-C to Lighting) and PD charger since iOS 12 and ever since I had it, I ran multiple 0 to 100% charges and made notes on the charging times which today I want to share with you to give a resolution on this trouble and maybe some of you will find it helpful as well.

Please find below my raw notes on the charging times. During the charges, I haven't used the phone but only to make notes on the charging percentage. All charges were started from either 1% remaining battery or absolute 0% (phone completely discharged). Optimized battery charging settings was/is also On (I don't know when it was introduced). And I haven't noticed any overheating on the phone or on the charger either.

I have a basic iPhone 12 and purchased from the Apple store the following cable: mophie USB-C Fast Charge Cable with Lightning Connector (2 m), Part Number Mfr. Part Number: 409903305, UPC or EAN No.: 848467095272. I've noticed that my phone randomly connects and disconnects while it's charging. It is only an issue with this cable, too. I have reached out to mophie but haven't received a response yet. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it because it's a "fast-charging" cable and not a standard cable? I'm surprised that this could be an issue with iOS and not the cable itself. Mophie is generally a good brand (in my personal experience) so I'd be surprised if I actually got a defective cable (still possible of course).

It appears the 18W Apple USB-C chargers are now useless.

They're not "useless."

They don't support fast charging, but they will charge your device.

For example, if you plug your phone in overnight as most people do, you would never notice the difference between the two chargers you name, it would still be full by the time you wake up.

I have a new iPhone SE and it does not change on the 18w charger, only on the normal 5w charger. That my personal phone.

The charger is fine because it does work on my iPhone 11 i use for business stuff.

When i plug the phone in, the charging Symbol shows for a couple of seconds but then goes away and the phones stopes changing.

i run the latest update of ios 14.

I have the same issue with PD 20W charger and USB-C to Lightning cable, connected to iPhone SE (2020) with iOS 14.4.2.

It's charging for few minutes and then stops for no clear reason. I have to unplug and connect cable again to restart charging.

Shame that bug like this exist in phone which supposed to be better than Android phones which have no issues with same charger and cable (3 in 1).
