iTunes Is Not Playing Purchased Movies (Windows)

Hello,

Seeking help because iTunes has stopped working in playing movies. It opens a new window for video playback but will not start, rather it simply shows a black screen. See screenshot below:

iTunes Version: 12.9.1.4

Windows 10 Home

I have uninstalled and installed iTunes yesterday, no effect. I did it again today, no effect. I have deleted the movie and downloaded it again, no effect.

It is frustrating that I cannot view purchased content on my PC? Everything works fine for video playback on my iPhone and Apple TV. How can I fix this problem?

Hello,

Purchased TV shows play completely fine on the same computer.

I called Apple Support and have only found one workaround: play movies in "streaming mode" rather than from a download. Using that approach, the movies play. It seems like there is some kind of problem with downloading the files correctly and playing them (even though 1 GB+ TV show episodes work fine)
