Apple Pen 2nd Generation

Hi...I'm new to Apple products. I purchased the 2nd gen pencil refurbished from the Apple website and on the back it says to use with iPad pro 11 inch

iPad pro 12.9 inch (3rd generation)

I have just purchased the 4th generation iPad pro 12.9 inch. Will this pencil work with this model or should I have purchased the pen new instead of refurbished?
