Duo Mobile on WatchOS7 not working properly for series 3 watch

I have a series 3 watch. After updating iPhone to iOS 14 and before WatchOS 7 was installed, Duo push notifications were working on watch. Upgraded watch to WatchOS 7. I receive notification on watch, approve, and it doesn’t work. I have to approve on phone. Running iOS 14.0.1 and WatchOS 7.0.1 didn’t fix anything.

Update apps or use automatic downloads


If the app is updated, you may want to follow the actions outlined in article, If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open. Should the issue persist, reach out to the app developer for additional assistance.

Yes, the Duo app is the latest. I’ve gone so far as to unpair phone a couple of times, restore from backup made before I upgraded watch. I had a Duo support case open and provided a lot of information and testing for them. I believe it has something to do with series 3 watch support. The reason I say that is my wife has same iPhone model I have, same version of Duo, but a series 4 watch, and has no problems. We are both running iOS 14.0.1 on an iPhone 7 Plus and watchOS 7.0.1. Conclusion from Duo case is that it’s a problem on the Apple side of things. So, at this point, out of ideas. Waiting for another update to come out that will hopefully fix it. To be clear, I see the duo push notification on my watch, and approve. Somehow that doesn’t seem to make it back to Duo, and I have to approve on my phone.
