Apple Music shuffle button

I currently have a MacBook Pro (2012) with Catalina 10.15.7 installed.

Recently Apple Music has been playing up. I have loads of music which I've acquired over many years but for some reason I'm unable to shuffle any of it. What I mean is; I click on a shuffle button and nothing happens, songs only seem to play one at a time and don't continue onto the next and if a song is playing and I click on the shuffle button the music stops. Maybe I should start thinking about moving all my music over to Amazon. I've had nothing but trouble since iTunes was changed to this. Seems to me that if I don't have a subscription then I'm not gonna be able to play any of the music that I have personally acquired.

Can anyone help me out here

Greetings s-pullen,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It seems like the Music app is not shuffling the music and not autoplaying songs.

If you create a new library on the MacBook Pro and add some songs to test, does it works in a new library?

  • "You can't shuffle and repeat music in your Autoplay queue. If you're listening to music in your Autoplay queue, the shuffle and repeat buttons disappear. You can only shuffle and repeat songs, albums, or playlists."

Repeat and shuffle music
