New iPad stuck at set up Apple ID

What if my device isn't restarting either? I held down the power putting but nothing is happening.

I am having this same problem. Did you ever find a way to fix it. I am also VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!

Wanted to give a further update. Doing some investigation online.....you can bypass this part of the set up process and just complete it later. Restart your device and then when you get to the part about setting up your Apple ID, just choose the option that you forgot it and don't have one. You will get the option to set it up later. My disappointment was not lessened by the whole experience, but I can now access my device.

I was getting really frustrated.

Support advised setting up with iTunes but needed USB-c adapter which is expensive.

I followed your advice, bypassed Apple id setup and it is working. Phew!
