Seagate 8tb Backup Hub Plus doesn’t show on iPad Pro 2018

Hi

I have this hard drive which I recently formatted to exFat so that it would work with my new iPad, however it’s still not showing up. It shows up on my Android phone fine (Androids are similar to iPads in that they don’t support NTFS file formats but do support exFat). I have also tried using different cables. No luck. If I plug an SD card into the iPad it works fine but the hard drive just refuses to show up. And yes, I have plugged it into a power source.

Any ideas?

Hello scastilho,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your external drive.

Please verify you have everything set up as shown in here. Connect external devices or servers with Files on iPad - Apple Support

Also verify the information, such as what adaptors you may be using: "Note: The Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter can be powered with a USB power adapter. This allows you to connect USB devices with higher power requirements, such as external hard drives, to iPad."

Ensure you are also selecting the Files app, or the correct area described here: "To view the contents of the device, tap Browse at the bottom of the screen, then tap the name of the device below Locations. If you don’t see Locations, tap Browse again at the bottom of the screen."

Thanks and have a wonderful day.
