I have the following problem (almost daily!) on my Mac Pro 2019:
Accountsd hitting 400% CPU
Everytime I have to reset the NVRAM to solve this...
Apple: please fix this annoying probmem!
Combo update + iCloud disable/enable: it appears to work, system is functioning 2 days without a problem now

I had the same problem and there was no way, I had tried almost everything and, after thinking about it a lot, as it was a synchronization problem with iCloud, I realized that the IOS 14.0.1 update had recently come out, and I had updated the iPhone, but not the iPad. I have updated it and, for now, in a few days I have not had a problem again. I hope it can serve you.
Try downloading the Combo Update and maybe restart in Safe Mode ( Shift Key at restart ) then install
I have installed the Combo update and disabled iCloud; presently the system is working OK (without the Accountsd failure). Keeping fingers crossed when enabling iCloud again!
It is unlikely that NVRAM or SMC reset will do anything for accountsd CPU high percentage!
First ensure you have good backups of your Mac, download and install a fresh copy of macOS Catalina 10.15.7 from the Apple App Store, when you have done that I'm sure everything will be just fine, chill out and stay safe!

well, the NVRAM reset did stop Accountsd for a while!
Presently, I do not have time for a full reinstall of my system (it is rather absurd: a normal Apple OSX update leading to requiring a full install of the system).
